- Justin Haggerty | IDRA
Recently, our staff at IDRA started receiving an influx of inquiries from commercial pilots, seeking new general liability policies, in New York. We became intrigued when most of the commercial pilots informed us that Verifly's hourly insurance products were no longer accepted in New York.
IDRA, as an association, exists to serve and protect drone pilots and operations around the world. We wanted to dig a little deeper on this and get you the right information to remain insured and protected.
As of April 23rd, 2019, Verfily confirms on their website that the company is "licensed as an insurance producer, and the drone insurance products on this website and mobile app are available for sale and distribution in all 50 states."
However, on July 29th, 2019, Verifly posted a website page 'Where is Verifly Available,' stating the company is "licensed as an insurance producer, and the Commercial General Liability insurance products on this website and mobile app are available for sale and distribution in all states except KY, NY, and WA."
According the recent update, Verifly's Commercial General Liability insurance products is no longer available in the states of Kentucky, New York, and Washington.
After searching for related articles or updates to state laws, our staff has been unable to discern any further information.
If any commercial pilots in the affected states have more information, please contact our staff at firstname.lastname@example.org.
