The Commercial Drone Alliance has sent a letter to both the new U.S. chief technology officer as well as the just-sworn in FAA Administrator.
It calls on them in their new roles to focus on adopting regulations for large UAS as the FAA’s principal UAS regulatory efforts has to date mainly focused on small UAS.
Because of this, the CDA hopes that with new leadership in place, now is a perfect time to refocus regulatory efforts on large UAS to give companies the guidance they need to develop.
Lisa Ellman, executive director of the Commercial Drone Alliance and partner at Hogan Lovells, commented: “The Commercial Drone Alliance looks forward to working with newly sworn in FAA Administrator Stephen Dickson and recently confirmed U.S. CTO Michael Kratsios to develop common sense and business-friendly regulations for large UAS.”
Adding: “With a clear regulatory roadmap in place, organizations can confidently continue to develop, operate, and grow their safe and innovative large UAS programs right here in the U.S.”
